Perfecting Failure, the debut album from alternative Aussies ColourMind, has been a long time in the making. The album was recorded by Jay Huxtable at Oracle Sound in Perth and is set to be released in October 2023.

ENBOR ARNASA Shows Thrash And Heavy Influences On His Self-Titled Album

Enbor Arnasa is the self-titled album from the Basque Country heavy metal project. Innocence, the desire not to complicate the listener and a lot of magic imbue the adventure of the album and above all metal. The thrash and heavy influences are obvious, after the many years of contact with these genres. There is also a touch of death metal and rock. Enbor Arnasa’s sensitivity and velocity in the guitar solos are a strong feature in the tracks and very importantly, the songs are sung entirely in the Euskara language. It is an approach to the Basque world, from its nights, its mountains, its forests, its farmhouses…

The album was created during confinement due to the pandemic and recorded, mixed and mastered by the singer and instrumentalist Iñaki Espartza (technician and producer at Geure Gogoa Recording Studio).

Frances Sludge Doom Band AZKEN AUZI’S Self Titled Album Out Now!

Hailing from Toulon, France, Sludge Doom force AZKEN AUZIannounces the signing with Italian powerhouse label Argonauta Records.

It was in the Spring of 2021 that Ludo, Laurent & Fred decided to explore an even darker and more tormented side to their understanding of music, emerging out of the remnants of MANIAC(death metal) and TOM IS FAT(noisy rock), AZKEN AUZIcombines doom/sludge but also more atmospheric passages.

Rapidly things took form, one composition and concert after another, until it was decided to record a first demo single “I Hate You” which received a very positive feedback.

It was just a matter of time before the band should decide to studio record their first album.

Blackened Death Metal band SELF DECEIVER’S Album Across the Styx Available On All Streaming Platforms

Self-Deceiver is a Blackened Death Metal band formed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2012 by Jorge and Sergio who moved back to Bogota, Colombia, in 2016. The band was inspired by European (mainly Scandinavian) Black and Death Metal bands, but there are also influences from the American Death Metal scene of the 80s and 90s, resulting in a mix of tempos in each song, with melodic parts, middle beats, blast beats with tremolo guitars, symphonic/classical elements and guttural vocals.

Lyrically and philosophically speaking, Self-Deceiver is inspired by human existence and its meaning, and by human actions such as violence, the search for glory, war, deceit, the hypocrisy of religions, among other topics. For the band, creating an atmosphere and deliver a message through their music is key over just being an extreme band.

Nowdays the band is still conformed by the same two members and in December of 2022 released the first album entitled Across The Styx, which is a compilation of songs composed during the Brazilian and Colombian period.

US progressive metal group Mindless Hope new album Mental Truancy is released on CD via Sliptrick Records on January 17th, 2023. The group is made up of five unique personalities that bring their eclectic influences to every song. Soaring, multi-part harmonies combined with a driving progressive metal sound, best describes the group.

The band feel the defining message of Mental Truancy is that everyone goes through stuff. We all go through something. Everyone responds differently to those experiences, and some may persevere, and others may succumb. The point is, we all individually go through this emotional rollercoaster of life and may respond differently to similar situations, but we all collectively should be able to have the empathy to relate to each other’s individual experiences.

Mental Truancy was recorded, engineered, mixed, produced, edited and mastered by Matt Grosse and was co-produced by Mark David and Travis Ebner. The album Art is by Brittany Sutherland AKA OpalAcorn.

New Album ‘Break The Oath’ By Stoner Doom Band PANDER Out January 20th Via Argonauta Records

Stoner doom band PANDER unveil new single ‘Earth’s Face’ off up-coming album ‘Break The Oath’ out January 20th, 2023 via powerhouse label Argonauta Records. Watch the video below.

Since 2011 Pander – set up in the Frisian Netherlands – brings on their heavy loaded dirt. Debut demo GO (2012) came forward with effective forthright stoner metal.

Follow-up Fierce Self (2015) gained even more weight and let catchy grooves flourish plentifully. Meanwhile a rather big amount of gigs were played.

Late summer 2017 the four piece became a three piece. A change of sound implied this powertrio’s increase of more thickened and rude riffage, resulting in dense, doomy songs on the now new album Break the Oath. Varied, slow- and more fast-paced songs, that bear brooding tensions – encapsulating gloomy and psychedelic atmospheres.

While lyrically bringing certain firm critical notes to the table on our existence and human behaviour. Or, putting forward themes that deal with humanity’s place within the big picture of our universe or, a tangible topic like loss.

After the tragic and sudden passing of bass player Ronan Connor in March 2021, RAUM KINGDOM wanted to release music to honor Ronan’s memory.

The song Red Admiral is a tale of woe and regret, the antagonist is in a self imposed prison dealing with intense guilt and angst. The intro is a utopian dreamscape sound that carries the listener deep into the trenches of misguided sadness and fear. The song hits in waves of melancholy despair and peaks of ferocious hard hitting metal.

This is an album you must have in your collection. This album is well written and composed. Raum Kingdom adeptly maneuvers the listener into a auditory hallucination.

Frances CLOUDY SKIES’S new Dreamgaze Atmospheric Post-metal album ‘Changes’ will be coming out via Argonauta Records January 20th.

CLOUDY SKIES, Dreamgaze Atmospheric Post-metal, Est. 2019 Paris France, is a duo led by Lionel & Nicolas who both belonged to Ambryo(metal/hardcore 2000-2009) and Eyes Front North (Blackened Postmetal 2009-2019).

The main idea for this new project was to literally “change” direction by crafting an odd and beautiful landscape nourished by not only “Metal” but also many other music genres Lionel and Nicolas love such as indierock, ambient, post rock, alternative…

As songs are the reflection of the composer’s soul, it was important for them to impregnate their emotions into their music. It could sound like a cliché but sensitivity is part of CLOUDY SKIES and the last 2 years they have been through with Covid-19 and lockdown have helped a lot to write in that direction.

Lionel and Nicolas composed and recorded everything except drums. For that task they hired the talented Conny Pettersson (ANATA, ETERNAL LIES, TROJAN DOGS…) to perform subtle, ethereal, groovy and brutal drum parts. The band focused on sound quality and took particular care in fine-tuning track mixing. As for the mastering, it has been processed by the great Magnus Lindberg responsible for many great albums (CULT OF LUNA, GHOST, SWITCHBLADE, PG.LOST…). This results in a clear, spacious and massive audio experience.

In 2019, Funeral Mass, by the hand of Mara Production, releases its first full album called “At the Crossroads of Dark Paths”. In July 2020 the second album shows up – “Forgotten Kingdoms of the North” – released by the band itself.
