Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison unveiled ‘Crack Cocaine’, the latest single from his upcoming third solo album, ‘The Morrison Project’. For this track, Morrison teamed up with none other than the Black Sabbath icon Ozzy Osbourne.

Last Friday, Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison unveiled ‘Crack Cocaine’, the latest single from his upcoming third solo album, ‘The Morrison Project’. For this track, Morrison teamed up with none other than the Black Sabbath icon Ozzy Osbourne.

Contrary to what the provocative title might suggest, the song has nothing to do with crack or cocaine, but is entirely about how certain relationships can also feel like an addiction, as Morrison explained to Metal Hammer UK.

‘Crack Cocaine’ impresses with strong riffs, dynamic melodies, and a dark theme, complemented by Ozzy’s iconic vocals, delivering the classic Ozzy sound we all know and love.

New Album Vault of Horrors From Belgian Death Metal Band Aborted Out Now Via Nuclear Blast

ABORTED Line up:
Sven De Caluwé – Vocals
Ian Jekelis – Guitar Daniel Konradsson – Guitar Stefano Franceschini – bass
Ken Bedene – Drums

ABORTED open the Vault of Horrors as the new album of death metal’s finest finally sees the light of the day.

Ten ferocious, gut-wrenching extreme metal slashers await you in this cabinet of horror movie classics. ABORTED invited the crème de la crème of the heavy music scene to the party, and on each track of the album you will find a different guest vocalist – diving down into the dark abyss of horror movie culture.

So sit back, grab a snack, and crawl down into the Vault of Horrors. Order your copy now:

But that’s not the end of the show for today. Fresh from the grave, the living dead are about to return (again). Feast your eyes on the music video for ‘Condemned To Rot’ here, featuring FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s Francesco Paoli:

Since their unholy inception in 1995, death metal miscreants ABORTED have been one of the pioneers of the genre and have annihilated friend and foe with relentless intensity and an uncompromising mix of flawless technicality and raw emotion.

Having carved a niche for themselves in the extreme metal realm, the multi-national combo around Sven de Caluwéinitially gained notoriety by offering up ruthlessly fast death-grind with groovy breakdowns on their early works (The Purity of Perversion, Goremageddon: The Saw And The Carnage Done). By meticulously crafting and introducing more technical elements on more recent releases such as TerrorVision, Retrogore and ManiaCult, ABORTED has consistently sharpened their lethal blend of furious death metal. Thereby firmly cementing their status as one of the most menacing and envelope-pushing metal acts of the 21st century.

For their twelfth studio album, set to attack the living on March 15th, the band teamed up with Nuclear Blast. With each of the ten new tracks, ABORTED dives deep into the vaults of VHS cassettes and stories that have been haunting us all for decades. Each song pays tribute to a horror cult classic and ranges from obligatory cuts such as ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ (to be found on ‘Death Cult’) or ‘Halloween’ (‘The Shape Of Hate’) to the more recent ‘The Mist’ to be discovered on ‘Malevolent Haze’. True to themselves, it wouldn’t be an ABORTED reference without an odious homage to none other than shit daemon ‘The Golgothan’ (sadly defeated by Silent Bob through the use of deodorant, cheeky bastard!).

There are plenty of familiar faces (and those who collect them), stories and easter eggs to be found on these tenferocious, gut-wrenching death metal slashers.

“It’s partially personal preference, but also stories that were interesting to write about”, frontman Sven remembers the writing process and how they chose their victims from the endless arsenal of great horror films. “‘Return of the Living Dead’ was picked not because it’s an interesting story, but because it’s a movie that hasn’t really gotten any coverage from any metal band yet and it’s a great fun film. ‘The Mist’ is another great one and carries a lot of sustenance, as does ‘Prince of Darkness’. The dark world of John Carpenter is always mesmerizing.”

If you’re going head to head with the most vile and infamous monsters in pop culture (all cleverly combined into one supervillain on the cover artwork created by Dan Goldsworthy), you might as well get some help from some of the best out there, right? Therefore, ABORTED invited the crème de la crème (sadly, they ran out of ice cream) of the music scene to the party, and on each track of the album you will find a different guest vocalist – ranging from Alex Erian(DESPISED ICON) to Johnny Ciardullo (CARCOSA / ANGELMAKER), Ben Duerr (SHADOW OF INTENT), Francesco Paoli (FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE) and many more:

“As usual, the guest vocalists were all chosen out of friends, people we’ve known for years or got to know in the last years, toured with, or have a connection with. Hal from Engulf was also picked since I did a guest spot on their record and loved his vocals. The guys from Ingested, Carcosa, Ov Sulfur were people that we toured with last year. We also go way back with Archspire, Despised Icon, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Cryptopsy. Being able to collaborate with all these great artists is such a privilege and made the process all the more exhilarating since each of them bring their own flavour to the mix. The enthusiasm of everyone involved definitely shines through to the final product and adds yet another layer of depth to the listening experience of the album.”

With this deadly alliance, Vault of Horrors is an epic journey where listeners are thrust into a world of intense brutality, characterized by lightning-fast guitar riffs, intricate, pummeling drum patterns and monstrous vocals that leave no room for respite.

For the first time since 2016’s Retrogore the band opted for a full production with audio extraordinaire and heavyweight producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Khemmis):

“The process was different as we spent 6 weeks tracking with him. We did the pre-production with him and he was very involved with each step. In the past, we’ve had people that were less involved or only tracked drums and vocals while the guitarists did their thing. Now everyone went through Dave’s little ‘Torture Chamber’ and it was a great experience. He has a vision and is simply fantastic to work with. I don’t think I’ve ever spent as much time on vocals as on this record. Dave is a fan of the music, he knew the band well and really wants to bring out what makes Aborted ‘Aborted’. He gets super excited working on the music which creates this infectious energy that makes for a really motivating atmosphere. Honestly, it was the best studio experience I’ve ever had and the result speaks for itself.”

And oh boy-o, does it! So sit back, grab a snack, and crawl down into the Vault of Horrors, if you dare. As the final notes fade, one thing will be clear – with this new release, ABORTED have not only once again proven their dominance in the world of death metal but leaped to new heights.

NUCLEAR BLAST – Announces ‘The Aggression Sessions’!

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the release of The Aggression Sessions featuring THY ART IS MURDER, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY,and MALEVOLENCE which will be available digitally on April 7th and on CD + Vinyl on July 21st, 2023 via Nuclear Blast.

Today, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY releases the first single from the EP entitled, “Hellions”. Check out the visualizer here:

FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY states, “‘Hellions’ was a fun look back at some of our more brutal and fast-paced roots more akin to our earlier material. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Hellbound, the record which we all collectively feel really started things in motion for the band. It was a blast to channel the energy and excitement we had at that time back into our music in 2023. It’s only natural for bands to evolve and expand their sound over time, but we never forgot where we came from, so this one is for those who were here from day one!”

Listen/stream “Hellions” here:

The Aggression Sessions is the follow-up to 2016’s The Depression Sessions and follows the same 6-song mini album where each band offers an original single and a cover song. For this session, THY ART IS MURDER is covering Cannibal Corpse and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY is covering At The Gateswhereas MALEVOLENCE is handling a song by American singer Anastacia.

THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY make the following joint statement:
“Before we had even completed work on ‘The Depressions Sessions’ we knew a lifelong friendship had been forged between THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and that we would have to do another variation of the project. ‘The Aggression Sessions’ concept was born almost immediately following the completion of the first iteration but has taken many years to finally find the time to record and release it amidst the chaotic touring and music release schedules of both bands. We wanted to take things back to some of our favorite inspirations for writing and performing heavy and aggressive music this time, encapsulating the tone of the EP title. We hope everyone enjoys!
Joining us for round 2, please welcome MALEVOLENCE into the series. Much love to The Acacia Strain, and thank you to them for being a part of this lineage. Check out their new forthcoming record as well!
Working with friends and peers and avoiding the pitfalls of competitiveness has always been the most rewarding part of being in a band, so as always thank you for the support and opportunity to have this platform. See you all on the road soon!”

MALEVOLENCE’s ilkie Robinson adds, “New Jersey to Australia to Sheffield! it was an absolute pleasure to be involved in this big international metal link-up and a great opportunity for us to have fun creatively outside of the usual expectations. Shout out to Eliran Kantor for killing the artwork and Nuclear Blast for making it all happen.”

Below is the tracklisting for The Aggression Sessions:
1. Hellions – FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY
2. Until There Is No Longer – THY ART IS MURDER
3. Waste Of Myself – MALEVOLENCE
4. Under A Serpent Sun (At The Gates Cover) – FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY
5. Hammer Smashed Face (Cannibal Corpse Cover) – THY ART IS MURDER
6. Left Outside Alone (Anastacia Cover) – MALEVOLENCE

Since its inception in 2014 In Berlin, the highly prolific band led by charismatic singer Johanna Platow Andersson has released four electrifying albums on Rise Above (LUCIFER I) and Century Media Records (LUCIFER II-IV), as well as and numerous stand-alone singles infused with 1970s hard rock, proto heavy metal, doom and occult rock, with a nod to their main influences such as Black Sabbath, Pentagram & Blue Öyster Cult. They have played over 200 shows in the Europe, Japan, North & South America, including festivals such as KISS Kruise, Psycho Las Vegas, Hellfest, Wacken and many more, most recently supporting the band GHOST on their European tour in spring 2023. Two of their shows have been recorded and broadcasted by prestigious German national TV program Rockpalast.

LUCIFER, now located in Stockholm, have been nominated twice for a Swedish Grammy in the category ‘Best Hardrock/Metal Album’ as well as the Swedish Radio Award P3 and several GAFFA nominations. Amongst others, they have graced the cover of the leading US metal magazine, Decibel, before their first album was released.

The group has concluded recording their fifth studio album, LUCIFER V, the first one to be released by their new label, Nuclear Blast Records, due out on January 26th 2024. Although LUCIFER is known to notoriously deliver critically acclaimed albums, supreme songwriting and quality recordings, LUCIFER V is rumored to be their best album yet. Combining elements of all their previous albums into one monumental mass of electrifying heavy rock and roll. Eerie landscapes shaped by soaring guitar riffs, the thunderous pounding of bass and drums from some sort of groovy inferno, haunted melodies to weep into your drink to, the screeching tires of a 1971 Cadillac hearse, the humorous morbidity and tragic wit of Johanna’s lyrics. If death had a best friend, it would be LUCIFER and they would hang out together at the local cemetery, shooting the shit. In November 2023, LUCIFER embarked on a full North American co-Headline tour with occult rock legends, Coven. Catch LUCIFER live in February 2024 when LUCIFER brings The Satanic Panic Tour to Europe together with Angel Witch and guests Attic and The Night Eternal.

ENSLAVED release ‘Sequence – Live’ single/video taken from ‘The Otherworldly Big Band Experience’

Enslaved are:
Ivar Bjørnson | guitars
Grutle Kjellson | vocals
Arve ‘Ice Dale’ Isdal | guitar
Håkon Vinje | keyboards, clean vocals
Iver Sandøy | drums

The Winter Solstice is a significant day in the Pagan calendar marking the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun. In the Northern Hemisphere it is the single day of the year with the longest period of night, with the days after becoming increasingly lighter.

In celebration of this special day, left-field metal luminaries Enslaved are proud to reveal their single and video for ‘Sequence – Live‘. The track, which originally comes from their 2020 record Utgard, sees a live recording detailing a new interpretation of the song, with nuanced accompaniment by fellow psychedelic Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant. This extraordinary performance took place during the 2021 Winter Solstice, via the stunning streaming event ‘The Otherworldly Big Band Experience‘.

Watch the ‘Sequence – Live’ video here:
Listen to the ‘Sequence – Live’ single here:

The Otherworldly Big Band Experience‘ was an Enslaved show like none other, their biggest, boldest project to date – a colossal, kaleidoscopic stage show featuring a stellar setlist covering their career, both past and present. Including some tracks never previously performed live.

Enslaved recently announced a UK and European headline tour for Spring 2024. The 16-date run will take place in March 2024, taking the band across 10 different countries, with support coming from British post-hardcore quartet Svalbard and US metallers Wayfarer.

23/03 – DE Berlin, Hole44
24/03 – PL Warsaw, Proxima

Enslaved have also been announced for some festivals in 2024:

31/07-03/08 NO Beyond The Gates, Bergen
11/08 UK Bloodstock Festival, Derby
14/08-17/08 DE Summer Breeze, Dinkelsbühl
16/11-17/11 MX Mexico Metal Fest, Mexico City

Enslaved recently played their final live show of the year at Damnation Festival, following on from a hectic festival season with performances at the likes of Midgardsblot,ArcTanGent, Brutal Assault, Beyond The Gates and Desertfest Antwerp, on-top of a co-headline tour across the USA and Canada earlier this year with Insomnium.

Enslaved’s latest avant-garde creation, Heimdal, was released earlier this year. Their breathtaking 16th studio album is both a departure and a communion with roots forged over three decades ago in the turbulent birth throes of Norway’s black metal scene. It’s a record that points towards new beginnings, and a dawn that’s on the other side of the apex of the land. A psychedelic journey through arcane Norse folklore, connecting with one’s ancient ancestors and our future selves.

You can order/stream Heimdal here:

Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene’s indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, releasing their first demo Yggdrasill in the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-album Hordanes Land coming out in 1993, and with their debut full-length Vikingligr Veldi arriving in the spring of 1994.

Enslaved in 2023 are a band in stellar form – a band at its most existentialist and self-conscious, proud Bergeners bearing the torch of their hometown’s extraordinary musical history. Their most recent material shows Enslaved at their most unleashed and thought-through – a lethal combination unfurling a potential that’s easily rekindling the furor of their early works while dancing gracefully through their most ambitious, most haunting and most musical tunes yet. A contradiction? Life itself is a contradiction. And yet we all live to prove it wrong.

German Symphonic Metal ascending stars BEYOND THE BLACK can already look back across a stratospherically successful career, despite their youthful years. Upon release, their 2015 debut album hit like a bomb in their home country. Songs Of Love And Death besieged the German Top 15 for weeks, which led to the band being awarded the Metal Hammer Award for “Best Debut” in 2015. Its successor Lost In Forever (2016) entered the German charts at #4 and paved the way for a huge tour throughout Germany and across countries like the UK, Russia, and Japan. Since the band’s live debut in 2014, they have played some of the world’s biggest Metal festivals like Wacken Open Air (several times) and have toured as support to heavyweights such as AEROSMITH, KORN, SCORPIONS, SAXON and WITHIN TEMPTATION. During the campaign for their third record Heart Of the Hurricane(2018), BEYOND THE BLACK landed their first-ever European headline tour, which took them across 10 countries, with most dates selling out.

Before they’d even finished the Heart Of the Hurricane touring cycle, BEYOND THE BLACKhad already gone back to the studio to write and record album number four. The result was Horizons, released in June 2020, which entered the German album charts at #3 (CH #6, AT #16, BE #53) marking the band’s most successful album release to date.

Now, two years later, BEYOND THE BLACK are back to launch a new chapter. Following the release of recently highly acclaimed tracks ‘Reincarnation‘, ‘Is There Anybody Out There‘, ‘Winter Is Coming’ and ‘Dancing In The Dark’, the band released their new, fifth studio album – the self-titled Beyond the Black on January 13th, 2023!

Sepultura have today issued the following statement…

Sepultura has reached the end of the road and has chosen to depart via a conscious and planned death.

Throughout the next 18 months we will celebrate 40 years of existence together along with our loyal fans on a farewell tour across the entire globe.

It will be a celebration of the past and the present for one final time.

After 4 decades filled with ups and downs, having visited 80 countries and countless different cultures, we’ve had the chance to become Brazil’s messenger to the world and spread our colors and rhythms worldwide. With our latest studio album Quadra, a highlight of our career, we added an unforgettable chapter followed by the SepulQuarta experience that helped us to overcome the difficult times of the pandemic together. We will unite our forces for one final, strong farewell. And all of you can be a part of it.

During this 40th anniversary tour, we will record 40 live tracks in 40 different cities and release a massive compilation of our best, most energetic moments on stage.
We are happy and very grateful for everything we could witness within the past four decades. We have released great albums and played unforgettable shows, cultivated friendships, met our idols, contributed to placing Brazilian metal on the world map, and therefore feel that we can leave the music scene with a sense of duty fulfilled.

We’ve always had the best fans in the world, who supported us with praise and criticism, who were demanding and intelligent, who grew together with the band and have always been loyal. Without you, none of this would have been possible. This album and this tour are for you. Dear SepulNation – we love you and always will!

Euthanasia, the right to a dignified death. The right to choose to live free and to choose when you die!”

Europe, Sepultura will celebrate with you for one final time together. As special guests, Ukrainian progressive metal highflyers Jinjer will join them on all 20 dates, alongside old-school death metallers Obituary and Philadelphia’s Jesus Piece.

Tickets will go on sale through all outlets on Wednesday, Dec 13th at 10:00 CET via

A new generation of thrash metal youngsters has risen from the ashes of a club of titans like SLAYER, EXODUS, KREATOR and many more. Greek ambassadors supreme SUICIDAL ANGELSare one of the most jaw-dropping representatives of the injection of new blood. At the dawning of Spring, this four-piece of these energetic thrashers will release their eight studio album Profane Prayer four years after their previous attack Years Of Aggression. It marks their return to the Nuclear Blast family. ‘It feels like homecoming’ confirms composer Nick Melissourgos (vocals, guitars) who started the band in 2001 when he was 16 years old.

SUICIDAL ANGELS went through a step by step development since their humble start in 2001. Not earlier than in 2007, they entered the studio to record their striking debut album Eternal Domination which caused a stir in the Hellenic scene. They were invited by Sakis Tolis of ROTTING CHRIST to do their first EU tour. This was only the beginning of a long era of growing popularity. Another milestone was supporting KREATOR, resulting in a long time friendship with Mille Petrozza. In 2010 SUICIDAL ANGELSeven opened up for the Big thrash 4 in Athens at Sonisphere and at the beginning of 2014 they finally did their first independent headline tour through Europe. Every two years new albums were coming out to support on the road. In the meantime they conquered Asia, South America and Europe and there is more to come.
