Iron Maiden are one of the most successful, acclaimed metal bands in history. They will return to Rock in Rio to headline the prestigious opening day of the 2022 festival on Friday September 2nd marking the band’s fifth appearance at this legendary music event, with memorable shows spanning 36 years across their career to date.
Its been nearly three years since the Coronavirus pandemic swept across the entire planet and almost as long since we’ve seen all our favourite bands play huge festivals worldwide. Its definitely been a challenge for everyone, especially touring bands and crew. Now that we are closer to an endemic festivals have reopened and we are seeing bands play live shows again. There are tours and line- ups to the likes which we haven’t seen in years.
Iron Maiden has been making the rounds while on their Legacy of The Beast World Tour. They recently headlined the 2022 Download Festival, they have been confirmed to headline Wacken Open Air Festival 2023 which sold out in 20 minutes after tickets went on sale a year in advance and tonight they will headline Rock in Rio 2022.
“We’re really looking forward to our return to North America so we can bring The Legacy Of The Beast show to places we didn’t get to in 2019 and to other cities we’ve not played for many years,” said frontman Bruce Dickinson in a press release. “I’m really excited about the new additions and changes to the stage production and we can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve got planned. The whole band has really enjoyed the Legacy Tour and now we just can’t wait get back out on the road to play live, have fun and see everyone again!”
Iron Maiden’s setlist includes vintage classics as well as songs from their latest release Senjutsu which despite being different from their previous work is critically acclaimed. Few bands have achieved the longetivity and success as Iron Maiden have despite the obstacles and challenges they have endured to get to where they are today. Senjutsu is the product of years in the making much like a finely tempered sword.
