JINJER is giving back in the face of adversity while a country in turmoil struggles to rebuild against all odds.
Jinger are a Ukrainian 4-piece progressive metal band with strong hardcore and groove metal origins. They originate from Donetsk. They formed in 2008 and quickly rose in popularity. Jinjer is singer Tatiana Shmailyuk, guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov, bassist Eugene Abdukhanov and drummer Vladislav Ulasevich. They are labelled under Napalm Records.
The band has generously given back to help a music school which in turn helps to rebuild hopes, dreams and a community amidst tragedy which is no small feat.
A portion of the funds raised through their donation merch campaign is going to aid the Kharkiv Professional Music College named after famous Ukrainian composer Lyatoshynskyi and founded 139 years ago. The college was sadly bombed and many instruments were destroyed. JINJER generously gave back to a cause they strongly believe in to help the school get new instruments and gear needed to continue their studies.
JINJER vocalist Tatiana Shmailyuk had this to say in an interview with Louder Sound: It is a great honor to represent my country. “We are very thankful to our Ministry Of Culture for the Ukraine who gave us this opportunity to do what we love to do, and play all the festivals we have announced. We’re using every festival to raise funds and spread awareness about the real war that is happening in the 21st century, which is crazy. It’s hard to believe, but this is the harsh reality. It’s heartbreaking, but at the same time we are also full of hope that soon it is all going be over. We are spreading positivity and hope, and we are dreaming about peace. I hope that no other European or world country ever experiences the same as the Ukraine.”
The band recently shared the stage with Lamb of God and is headed to Latin America. They had this to say on their Facebook page:
Not only was it great to finally share the stage with Lamb of God, but also getting to hang out with Mr. Blythe himself. Thanks for the great summer Europe! Next stop: LATIN AMERICA!
