From the initial solo acoustic cello starting point each note and phrase seemed to flow, finding its space, augmented and brought to life by the incredible performances from all my guests. I offer these songs to you with gratitude for your support and your time in listening, and I hope they bring you a landscape in which to explore your own richness and depth. With love.”

Kalandra release new single ‘Bardaginn’
Watch here Norwegian pop/rock group Kalandra have released a brand new single, “Bardaginn”. The title means ‘fight’ or ‘battle’, whether it’s experienced from within or out in the real world. The meaninglessness of it all, yet the importance for humans to find meaning in fighting for something, or someone.
The release is accompanied by a stunning music video by Ragnarok Film which can be viewed HERE. The single is out on all streaming platforms HERE.
Vocalist Katrine was curious about making a timeless lyrics using the Old Norse language. She teamed up with Norwegian lyricist and language consultant Alexander Lykke, and together with guitarists Jogeir and Florian and drummer Oskar, they’ve created a song unlike anything Kalandra has ever composed before.
The band comments: “For our next single release we all knew it was important for us to try and challenge ourselves creatively, and yet still somehow manage to keep that light playfulness in the creative process, where absolutely anything was allowed. Although it at times seemed like an impossible task to piece together, it feels as if we’ve managed to really pull out the best in every member of the band, and really showcase what we’re made of, both individually and as a team.
Bardaginn is fun, but also bloody serious. We’re very proud of each other and what we’ve made, and we can’t wait to play it live.”
By Norse to reissue Mari Boine’s iconic album ‘Gula Gula’
By Norse will be reissuing Mari Boine’s iconic album Gula Gula. Originally, Gula Gula -Hør Stammødrenes Stemme (translated: Hear the voices of the Foremothers) was released on the label that the Norwegian singer founded with her former husband. Mari Boine won her first Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammy Award) in 1989 with this record.
For this exclusive re-issue, the original recording tapes from 1989 were located and two previously unreleased tracks from the Gula Gula studio sessions were discovered. The original producer Tellef Kvifte mixed the two songs. The authentic producer notes have been included in this edition and the artwork has been re-envisioned by the original designer Madla Hruza.
