Skindred – Release New Video For If I Could. Appearing At Knotfest Australia This March!

UK ragga-metal legends Skindred released their colossal eighth album, Smile, in August of 2023.

With the incredible support of the rock and metal community – including messages of support from Metallica, Rage Against The Machine and Disturbed as well as Kerrang!, NME and Metal Hammer, the band landed a career best of Number 2 in the UK Album chart. They also went to reach Number 1 in the Official UK Rock & Metal,  Independent Album, Downloads AND Vinyl charts, outselling most of the UK’s biggest and most established rock artists!

The band have just released a music video for the track, If I Could.

The video celebrates Skindred’s amazing year with footage and highlights filmed in the build up to Skindred’s UK #2 album ‘Smile’ and sold out UK and European tours as the band gear up for their trip to play Knotfest Australia next month.

‘Smile’ attests to the enduring power of a band that delivers a good time, every time. “When I look out into the crowd, whether it’s in a small room or a festival crowd, the one thing I notice above all else is the smiles,” says Skindred’s formidable frontman Benji. For him and for Skindred – completed by guitarist Mikey Demus, bassist Daniel Pugsley, and drummer Arya Goggin – it’s about enduring and it’s about legacy. “In life, it’s about hearing that our music has encouraged people and got them through dark times. But even when we’re done and gone, people will still be listening to this music. That thought makes me smile.”

The release of Smile followed an incredible career-defining year for Skindred: from winning the award as Best UK Live Act at the Heavy Music Awards, to touring with rock legends KISS as special guests on their last ever UK tour. The band also graced the cover of Kerrang! magazine for the first time in their careers and performed their single “Gimme That Boom” on BBC2’s  Later… with Jools Holland. Aside from this, singer Benji Webbe also appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and the band also were featured as guests on BBC Breakfast.

Adding to the Skindred frenzy, the band’s 2000’s hit “Nobody” also saw an electrifying resurgence following a viral TikTok dance trend, which saw over 14 million hits on the Skindred hashtag in a matter of weeks. (Just in the first few weeks of 2024, one person dancing “Nobody” has amassed 32 million views on Instagram too!)

With the band’s forthcoming appearance this March on Knotfest Australia, 2024 is set to be Skindred’s best yet! Prior to Australia they will play their biggest headline shows in the UK to date and have just WON Best Alternative Act at this years MOBO Awards!

Skindred have certainly got more than enough reasons to smile!

Bruce Dickinson Drops New Single, ‘Rain On The Graves’ New Solo Album, The Mandrake Project, Out March 1

BRUCE DICKINSON
Rain On The Graves
Brand New Single Out Now Taken From The Mandrake Project
Brand New Solo Album Released On March 1

Bruce Dickinson has released his brand new single, ‘Rain On The Graves‘, accompanied by a thrilling video introducing Bruce’s live band, comprising guitarist Roy Z, drummer Dave Moreno, bass-player Tanya O’Callaghan and keyboard maestro Mistheria.

‘Rain On The Graves’ is the second single to be taken from Bruce Dickinson’s forthcoming solo album The Mandrake Project which will be released on March 1st, via BMG.

Riding on a towering guitar riff, with dramatic keyboards and a commanding vocal performance, it was inspired by a rainy visit to Romantic poet William Wordsworth’s grave in the Lake District. The song grew into a rumination on the nature of mortality and the deal with the Devil that artists have come to feel themselves making ever since Robert Johnson proved it worthwhile back in the 1930s.

“I had the chorus lyric since I visited Grasmere for a wedding back in 2012,” explains Bruce, “and it wasn’t difficult years later to create the rest of the song with so much rich imagery in my head!” It is a classic Dickinson/Roy Z collaboration; a catchy but heavy piece – full of melody but stripping out the spoken vocals of the verses in almost poetic fashion – maybe a further ode to the great wordsmith who inspired the title, somehow juxtaposed with music fit to raise the ghost of Robert Johnson at his metaphorical crossroads.

With a video shot entirely in a wintery Cornwall – again with Director Ryan Mackfall – we get to see Bruce the actor, a preacher no less, making his own deal with the Devil and dragging his ‘House Band from Hell’ into the bargain.

Watch the video here!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE4xNUB2Q5E

The follow up single to the hugely acclaimed track ‘Afterglow Of Ragnarok’, ‘Rain On The Graves’ showcases the inventive, expansive and absorbing nature of The Mandrake Project.

Sonically heavy and rich in musical textures, the album sees Bruce bring to life a musical vision long-in-the-making. Created with co-writer and producer Roy Z, they have crafted one of the defining rock albums of 2024.

However, The Mandrake Project is not just an album. The comic book of the same name is a dark, adult story of power, abuse and a struggle for identity, set against the backdrop of scientific and occult genius. Created by Bruce Dickinson, it is a collectable series of graphic novels scripted by Tony Lee (Dr Who), stunningly illustrated by Staz Johnson (2000AD) & with covers by industry heavyweight Bill Sienkiewicz for Z2 Comics, which will be released as 12 quarterly issues that will be collated into three annual graphic novels with the first coming at the end of 2024. The first individual episode was released in comic shops on January 17th & the special Collectors’ Edition sold out within 48 hours of release.

Bruce Dickinson Drops New Single, ‘The Afterglow Of Ragnarok’ New Solo Album, The Mandrake Project, Out March 1

Deluxe Gatefold 7″ Vinyl Featuring Eight Page Comic Prequel
The Mandrake Project Comic Vol.1 Released January 17

Bruce Dickinson has unveiled the dramatic, action-packed video for ‘The Afterglow Of Ragnarok‘, the first single to be taken from his upcoming solo album The Mandrake Project.

Last Friday, in front of a packed audience on the opening day of CCXP23, Brazil’s huge Comic-Con event in Sao Paulo, he premiered the spectacular film and revealed further details about the album and forthcoming comic series in partnership with Z2, including releasing 2,000 CCXP-exclusive versions of the comic to the delight of the international comic community.

The Mandrake Project will be released on March 1, via BMG. Across ten inventive, expansive and absorbing tracks, Bruce Dickinson and his long-term co-writer and producer Roy Z, have created one of 2024’s defining rock albums. Sonically heavy and rich in musical textures, it sees Bruce bring to life a musical vision long-in-the-making, and features some of the finest vocal performances of his career.

WATCH THE ‘AFTERGLOW OF RAGNAROK’ VIDEO HERE
https://youtu.be/yulfvacpvTc?si=8TAm6mYeaFOtkeuS

Recorded largely at LA’s Doom Room with Roy Z doubling up as both guitarist and bassist, the line-up for The Mandrake Project was rounded out by keyboard maestro Mistheria and drummer Dave Moreno, both of whom also featured on Bruce’s last solo studio album, Tyranny Of Souls, in 2005.

The Mandrake Project – tracklisting
Afterglow Of Ragnarok (05.45)
Many Doors To Hell (04.48)
Rain On The Graves (05.05)
Resurrection Men (06.24)
Fingers In The Wounds (03.39)
Eternity Has Failed (06.59)
Mistress Of Mercy (05.08)
Face In The Mirror (04.08)
Shadow Of The Gods (07.02)
Sonata (Immortal Beloved) (09.51)

Fans of both Bruce Dickinson and Iron Maiden will notice that the album features the curiously-named ‘Eternity Has Failed’, which first appeared in a different form entitled ‘If Eternity Should Fail’ on Iron Maiden’s 2015’s album The Book of Souls, illustrating how long the creative process for The Mandrake Project has been in the works.

Bruce has previously described lead single, ‘Afterglow Of Ragnarok’ as, “a heavy song and there’s a great big riff driving it…but there’s also a real melody in the chorus that displays the light and shade that the rest of the album brings.” And the track is brought vividly to life in the cinematic video which premiered in Brazil.

Directed by award-winning director Ryan Mackfall, written by Bruce Dickinson and acclaimed British writer Tony Lee (whose lengthy credits include 2000AD, DC and Marvel ranging from Dr Who & Star Trek to Spider Man & X-Men), the film unveils Dr Necropolis, the main protagonist at the heart of The Mandrake Project. It also sets the scene for the story to come, reflecting the dark narrative contained in the 8-page comic book prequel which features in the 7″ gatefold vinyl release of the single.

Ryan Mackfall comments, “Many years before I was a director, I have fond memories of various music videos that spoke to me and one of those was ‘Can I Play With Madness’ by Iron Maiden. For me it defined what a music video is. Little did I know, many years later I’d be on a call with one of the stars of that video, Mr Bruce Dickinson, discussing ideas for a music video. Bruce has felt like a kindred spirit from that moment and it was therefore only right that we attempted to bring the story of ‘Afterglow Of Ragnarok’ to life in a live action form. Naturally the music is a big part of the engine of the music video and this track was a heavy hitter from the first play. But beyond that I firmly believe it’s also the passion of the artist that defines the results – Bruce’s passion is unmatched. I really hope the fans find themselves taking Necropolis’ journey with the mandrake juice time and time again. This is just the start of something very special!”

The Mandrake Project is not just an album, but a dark, adult story of power, abuse and a struggle for identity, set against the backdrop of scientific and occult genius. Created by Bruce Dickinson, the comic series is scripted by Tony Lee and stunningly illustrated by Staz Johnson for Z2 Comics, released as 12 quarterly issues that will be collected into three annual graphic novels. The first episode will be released in comic shops on January 17th, 2024.

Bruce Dickinson’s touring band features guitarist Roy Z, drummer Dave Moreno, bass-player Tanya O’Callaghan and keyboard maestro Mistheria.

For more information on the comic series go to

The Mandrake Project will be Dickinson’s seventh solo album. It will be released via BMG worldwide on multiple formats.

Autopsy’s Gory new Video And New Album Out Now

AUTOPSY

Watch The Gore-Tastic Video For ‘Rabid Funeral’

New Album, ‘Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts’ out now!

Celebrate the disgusting new era of Autopsy and the release of “Ashes, Organs Blood & Crypts”. The album ‘Rabid Funeral’ NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED!!!

“Thanks to the maniacs at Rabidog, we have a sick little film to accompany our audio assault on your eyes, ears and twisted mind itself.

This is exactly the kind of movie we would have rented back in the day, watched over and over and returned with certain spots stretched out from excessive rewinding and rewatching. We probably would have written a song about it as well, but now we don’t have to!”

Chris Reifert

Collaborating with Rabidog Films, Murray Media, Haunt Manor and the Butcher Shop FX studio, the band very much bring the dead to life and pay homage to the likes of House of a 1000 Corpses, Wrong Turn and the ghoulish cannibal inspired classic that is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Autopsy deliver their own flavour of Grindhouse terror.

‘Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts’ is out now on Peaceville on Limited edition Red LP (Blood) / Yellow LP (Organs – available exclusively from the Peaceville Stores) and Orange LP (Crypts), LP (Ashes), CD and Digital.

About Autopsy

One of the longest running death metal acts active today, and an inspiration for whole generations of depraved metal maniacs the world over, Autopsy formed in 1987 and released four albums on Peaceville Records – beginning with the classic debut ‘Severed Survival’ in 1989 – before disbanding in 1995, with members going on to form the equally disturbed Abscess. Autopsy officially returned after a fifteen year hiatus with the 2010 EP, ‘The Tomb Within’, followed closely by their fifth studio album, ‘Macabre Eternal’ in 2011, which set them on a new bloodthirsty trail, with the reinvigorated intent of creating more of the sickest and most twisted & uncompromising music ever to grace a turntable. The band has remained prolific ever since.

GALA from The HU states “I am very glad to be finding more about the Movember and the mission they are working towards. Us men tend to delay and overlook health issues we face especially mental health and cancer until it is too late. Comparing to women, men tend to tilt to toxic habits such as drinking and smoking when faced with problems instead of talking with someone or seeking for help. Therefore, learning about warning signs and understanding the issues through the events such as Movember is a great way to lead a healthy lifestyle. It is my hope that Movember will take up more space in the global scale and help raise awareness for men.

The group’s eighth album GODMODE finds vocalist Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth writing the most powerful songs of their career.

Recorded at Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 10-track opus was produced by Kane Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch) and Tyler Bates (John Wick, Jerry Cantrell, Bush) and marks a new high for the quintet, further cementing their legacy in the heavy music world.

“There’s a spontaneity in this album that you can hear. It’s a little more visceral. And that we’re not with Kevin [Churko], who has done all our albums except for our very first, fans will hear those differences too, which is really cool and exciting for us,” says Howorth. “We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to hear what we’ve created.”

“We’ve been wanting to work with Spencer [Charnas] for a while,” says Brink. The back and forth with his vocal is someone actually feeling that they love and understand you, and they want to help you and go through it with you.” She adds, “lyrically and emotionally it comes from a place of me going through a lot of different traumatic things. I suffered from unworthiness. It’s a lot to be with somebody who has post-traumatic stress. I have a lot of tics and things, and you can get into the mindset that you should just be alone, so nobody has to deal with it. It’s sourcing back to that in my past.”

“We are thrilled to unveil “THE PURGE” to everyone,” says vocalist Maria Brink. “I am so grateful for how everything flowed to bring this song to life, both sonically and visually. Kane Churko and Jensen Noen helped to create this musical & cinematic experience with us and we could not have done it without them. The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy.”

“This song came from our time in lockdown. We all had our own personal experiences during the pandemic, and we all saw the social unrest unfolding daily tearing us apart, it was such a crazy time,” says guitarist Chris Howorth. Our band, like everything else, was stopped in its tracks. During the lockdown I was sending Maria musical ideas I was working on, and this one really resonated with her. She even said, ‘This is gonna be our first single’. Fast forward a couple years and all the pent-up frustration and angst came pouring out in Maria’s lyrics and performance, creating this crazy visceral song.”

The group have also shared details for GODMODE, marking their eighth studio album to date. Recorded at Hideout Recording Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 10-track opus was produced by Kane Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch) and Tyler Bates (John Wick, Jerry Cantrell, Bush).

“We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to hear what we’ve created,” adds Howorth.
