Cult heavy metal outfit CIRITH UNGOL will unleash their sixth full-length, Dark Parade, on October 20th via Metal Blade Records today unveiling the record’s cover art, track listing, and first single!

Few bands in the history of the heavy metal underground have a story as remarkable, improbable, or uplifting as that of CIRITH UNGOL. Formed in Ventura, California in the early 1970s, CIRITH UNGOL created a sound the world had never experienced before. Rather than passively channeling their influences, the band was driven to forge an altogether heavier, darker, more apocalyptic sound. It was obscure and arcane, mysterious and eccentric, epic and expansive, but most of all, unfailingly, bone-crushingly heavy, dark, and doom-filled.

Wasting no time to ride their molten wave they started with their 2020 studio comeback Forever Black, CIRITH UNGOL started writing songs for Dark Parade as soon as Forever Black was released. Then, like everyone else, CIRITH UNGOL were hamstrung by the global pandemic, struggling through illness, seclusion, grief, and depression in their quest to create dark, vibrant art. And like the greatest warriors, they persevered, working on one song at a time – distractions be damned. The first track composed was the crushing “Relentless,” which reinforced their confidence and clarity of vision. The rest of the album came naturally, fueled by personal misery and the tragedy of worldwide collapse.

Band members lost close relatives and we struggled as best we could through the pandemic which ravaged the earth’s population and economies,” drummer Rob Garven notes. “As horrifying as it was, it was the perfect backdrop for our doom-laden message of a world on the edge of destruction.”

With all eight demos finished — which are included on the expanded edition of the album — CIRITH UNGOL started recording Dark Parade in October 2022. The end result is an unrelenting triumph of pessimism and pain; a charred vista rooted in the crunch-and-crash templates of classic doom metal and NWOBHM but delivered with contemporary production and perspective. The album is propulsive and insistent, reflecting the band’s love for metal, instinct to destroy, and disgust for mankind.

From the majestic eight-minute-long “Sailor On The Seas Of Fate,” which starts with a reflective arpeggio and builds into a pounding, near-tribal volley before segueing into a bleak, slow burn of retribution and agony, to the final three movements of the “Dark Parade” saga (comprised of “Dark Parade,” “Distant Shadows,” and “Down Below“), CIRITH UNGOL‘s latest album offers a metallic soundtrack of societal decay and environmental collapse that foreshadows nothing less than total extinction.

The first single from Dark Parade is opening track “Velocity (S.E.P.),” a compact, mid-paced blast of crunching riffs and deft hooks that act as a microcosm for much of the doom-laden album. “While talking with [vocalist] Tim [Baker] and Rob about what kind of song was needed, a decision was made to stop doing the galloping chugs, as done many times on previous albums, and start doing down-picking chugs while keeping some sort of tie to the CIRITH UNGOL sound,” reveals guitarist Jimmy Barraza. “Straying toward a Sabbath or Priest vibe is not far off and happens subconsciously.

The track is about promises made and debts paid. Faust and Robert Johnson both knew what to expect on their visit to the Crossroads – great rewards and great loss. A bit of suffering in Dante’s Inferno will always remind us that the earthly pleasures we seek always come at a price. Sell your soul, take the deal, suffer the consequences.

It’s about what happens when we sell that which we hold dear,” Baker notes. “Our soul — if such a thing exists — our dignity, pride, and whatever else we have that will help seal the deal in an endless pursuit of money, power, glory and dominion over others.”

Dååth Release New Original Single “The Silent Foray” Featuring Per Nilson of Scar Symmetry

Sean Z – Vocals – instagram.com/seanzscreams
Krimh – Drums – instagram.com/_krimh_
Jesse Zuretti – Orchestration, synth, guitar – instagram.com/jessezuretti
Dave Marvuglio – Bass – instagram.com/davidmarvuglio
Rafael Trujillo – Lead Guitars – instagram.com/rafaeltrujillo_official

Check out Dååth‘s latest original single “The Silent Foray” featuring Per Nilson of Scar Symmetry HERE. The new digital single was mixed by Jens Bogren and mastered by Tony Lindgren with cover art being handled once more by Adrian Baxter.

Dååth is currently in the mastering phase of their upcoming Metal Blade Records debut full length album, which is due out in 2024. More details coming soon! The band is also pleased to announce that they have completed their lineup by adding Rafael Trujillo as lead guitarist.

Photo by Radka Klein – Nachtfrost Visuals

Founding member and guitarist Eyal Levi comments on the band’s latest single and the addition of lead guitarist Rafael Trujillo:

Two pieces of great news in the Dååth camp today:

First, we released a new song called The Silent Foray. I used our original demos from 1999 as a primary inspiration while writing this one. I think fans of The Hinderers and Futility will love it, especially the final third, where the synth and guitar layering create this epically lush and creepy climax. Overall, it’s just a slamming song with great riffs, great vocals, and a fantastic guest solo by Per Nilsson. It’s streaming everywhere. CHECK IT OUT!

Second, we have completed our lineup by adding Rafael Trujillo on lead guitar. Back in the summer of 2022, while searching for lead guitarists to feature on No Rest No End, Krimh sent me an Instagram clip of some Austrian guitarist with the same last name as the Metallica guy and told me that we should see if he would do it. Skeptical as I always am, I watched it and had my mind blown. As soon as I heard his playing, I wanted him in the band. So we asked him to contribute a guest solo to No Rest No End, which came out great.

It was so easy to work with him that we collaborated on our The Philosopher cover, which also went great. At that point, we were 2 for 2 with Rafael, and I knew we could work together. Time for the real test: We asked him to help finish writing a song from the upcoming album. His first ideas were all I needed to hear. We were 3 for 3. The rest is history.

You’ll hear his work all over the new album. His style fits us perfectly. He gets it. No matter what state the demos are in, he gets where we’re going with it, and that’s massive! Our classical backgrounds helped us connect musically. He has a history of playing with some of the all-time tech death greats, and he’s incredible at just about any genre you can throw at him. Perfect for this band. Like the rest of us, he has 3 million things going on simultaneously, so he fits right in.

That’s all I’ve got for now. I hope you enjoy The Silent Foray and share it with everyone you know.”

Rafael added:

Exciting News!

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve officially joined Dååth as their lead guitarist! Over the past year, I’ve collaborated with these fantastic musicians and even had the opportunity to contribute to the upcoming album. It’s an absolute honor to be a part of this band, and I can’t wait to share the music with all of you.

But that’s not all! We’re thrilled to announce the release of our brand-new song, The Silent Foray.

Thank you for your continued support!

About the band:
Dååth is an American progressive death metal band based in Atlanta, Georgia. The band began their journey in 1999 and stayed busy for just over a decade before taking a hiatus in 2011. In that time, Dååth released 4 studio albums (Futility – self-released 2004, The Hinderers – Roadrunner Records 2007, The Concealers – Century Media 2009, Dååth– Century Media 2010) and toured throughout the world with band’s like Dark Funeral, Naglfar, Zyklon, Dragonforce, Goatwhore, Chimaira, Throwdown, Dying Fetus, and Devildriver making a lasting impression with the metal community and its many subgenres. Dååth also landed a coveted spot on Ozzfest playing before tens of thousands of fans in outdoor amphitheaters across the US in addition to the infamous and long-running metal tour, Summer Slaughter.

In their time, Dååth managed to create an extensive fanbase worldwide with their unique brand of experimental death metal, which makes it no surprise that the metal community lit up once rumors of the band’s return began to surface online. The metal community only continued to buzz with support as members began making posts teasing new material. The metal world made it clear they were ready for the return of one of the strongest progressive death metal bands of the first part of the 00’s.

Dååth is now back with an updated lineup and stronger than ever, which can be heard in the group’s new single “No Rest No End” that saw digital release by Metal Blade Records on February 22, 2023. The track features guest solos by Rafael Trujillo (Obsidious, ex-Obscura) and Spiro Dussias and was mixed by Jens Bogren (Sepultura, At The Gates, Kreator, Dimmu Borgir), Mastered by Tony Lindgren (Enslaved, Katatonia, Leprous, Wardruna), with Vocal Production by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Motionless In White, Wage War), and Engineering by John Douglass (Megadeth, Alluvial, The Contortionist).

Dååth followed up the release of “No Rest No End” with a cover of Death‘s “The Philosopher” that features Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills and Rafael Trujillo and was released digitally on April 24, 2023.

On May 30, Dååth released the original single “Purified By Vengeance” that features both Mark Holcomb of Periphery and composer and sound designer Mick Gordon. The track was mixed by Jens Bogren, with Andrew Wade as vocal producer, and John Douglass handling engineering duties.

The band’s latest digital single, a cover of Morbid Angel‘s classic “Where the Slime Live” featuring a guest guitar solo performance by Dave Davidson of Revocation. The track was mixed and mastered by Dave Otero with artwork by Ryan Wolanski.

GOATWHORE released their critically adored Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven full-length last October via Metal Blade Records. Their most accomplished album to date in sound, concept, and execution, the twelve-track offering earned the #9 position on Billboard’s Current Hard Music Albums chart upon its first week of release and stands among the most ravaging records to come out of 2022.

Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven was produced by Jarrett Pritchard (Exhumed, 1349), and tracked primarily at Studio In The Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana under pandemic restrictions. The band recruited acclaimed producer Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire, Gatecreeper, Code Orange) to mix the record with final mastering duties handled by Grammy-award winning engineer Ted Jensen (Ghost, Gojira, Cult Of Luna). The record is tied together by the art of longtime collaborator Jordan Barlow.

Angels… consistently rages without ever devolving into the samey sounding banality that plagues so many less adept practitioners. Angels… just gets better the longer it plays.” – Decibel Magazine

If you love war metal, this pick will be right up your alley. It assaults you with blitzkrieg strength. This evil offering is pleasantly raw. Yet, it is also a polished and mature work. GOATWHORE will catch you off guard with soaring guitar solos and the like.” – MetalSucks

Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven cherry-picks the best bits from various subgenres – the guttural intensity of death metal, the trilling majesty of black metal – and assembles them into songs that feel almost regal in their hateful conviction.” – Spin Magazine’s 10 Best Metal Albums Of 2022

…blistering tracks toward the album’s back-end like ‘Voracious Blood Fixation’ and ‘The Devil’s Warlords’…showcase some of GOATWHORE’s best, off-kilter, savage riffs ever. It truly is all killer with no filler… Whatever the future may hold for GOATWHORE, Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven proves that the band is at the top of its game, and that it has much more to offer.” – Blabbermouth

The blackened thrash remains up front, as Falgoust’s growls and Duet’s riffs and sinister solos coalesce with the determined rhythms of Simmons and Coleman. GOATWHORE ascends to eviscerate all expectations. Angels Hung from the Arches of Heaven exceeds the related genre’s boundaries and redefine their sound and place in the landscape of metal.” – New Noise Magazine

…another devilishly brutal offering from GOATWHORE and sees the band on relentlessly savage and reenergized form with their brand of no nonsense metal going for the jugular at every chance it gets.” – Distorted Sound

Capra Drops New Single / Video, “Human Commodity” (feat. Walls of Jericho’s Candace Puopolo)

Capra line-up:
Crow Lotus – Vocals
Tyler Harper – Guitar
Jeremy Randazzo – Drums
Trevor Alleman – Bass

Capra Prepares to kick-off USA tour next week

On October 6th, metallic hardcore outfit Capra will unleash their sophomore full-length, Errors, via Metal Blade Records / Blacklight Media Records. Maintaining all the elements that made their 2021 debut so compelling – raucous energy, frantic riffs, the from-the-gut lyrics and soul-searing delivery of vocalist Crow Lotus – Capra has stepped things up on this record, with stronger songwriting and a determination to reach the next level. For a preview of Errors, the video for the new single “Human Commodity” (produced by Jai Benoit & Jerik Thibodaux, and feat. Walls Of Jericho‘s Candace Puopolo) can be viewed at: youtu.be/CgO3AMJWjfI

Tyler Harper (guitar) comments: “We are so honored to have worked with Candace Puopolo on this track. I grew up listening to Walls of Jericho and they were always a major influence on my music. To have a legend involved with what we’re doing is such a rad feeling.”

The debut single, “Tied Up“, can also be heard at: blacklightmediarecords.com/capra – where the album can be pre-ordered in the following versions:

–CD
–red/white marble vinyl
–smoke vinyl
–digital album

Tracking in Estuary Recording Studios in Austin, Texas, with Andrew Hernandez, Errors was mixed by Taylor Young and mastered by Brad Boatright, the latter two having worked on In Transmission (2021). Guitarist Tyler Harper comments, “I knew that I wanted it to pick up where the first album left off, but that it needed to have an entirely new attitude. If you listen to the last song from ‘In Transmission’ into the first song on ‘Errors’, it’s a continuation. From there the album steers off into a direction that still feels similar, but is new.” Coming primarily from a hardcore background, giving listeners a sense of nostalgia for the sounds of the late 90’s and early 2000’s hardcore and punk scenes, but also incorporating elements of metal that complement the overall tone, everything the band does on Errors resonates with emotion; nothing is forced.

For collaborations, Capra recruited Walls Of Jericho vocalist Candace Kucsulain-Puopolo to add her inimitable tones to “Human Commodity,” while their friend Dustin Coffman from Glassing added backing vocals to a handful of tracks. Producer Hernandez also added some piano to “Nora,” which closes out the album in a very different manner than anything they’ve previously explored. In a complete juxtaposition to the tracks that precede it, “Nora” is atmospheric and lithe, delicate and haunting. “I’ve always wanted to show a prettier/lighter side to this band where it’s not always aggressive,” says Harper. “Life is a rollercoaster and sometimes you need to throw some pretty piano into it.” Since Capra‘s inception, Harper has always envisaged each album being a continuation of the last, and then breaking it off into its own journey, seeing “Nora” as “a fun way to start album three!

Until then, the band will tour like the road warriors they have become, bringing Errors to North America and overseas (see below for all upcoming dates). Capra are eager to bond with fans new and old. Lotus explains that crucial connection: “Care about us because we care about you. And because we are a part of creating something our community can be proud of.”

BAND FEATURES VOLBEAT’S MICHAEL POULSEN, MARC GREWE (INSIDIOUS DISEASE, EX-MORGOTH), + MORTEN TOFT HANSEN (RAUNCHY)

DEBUT ALBUM IMPII HORA OUT SEPTEMBER 29 VIA METAL BLADE RECORDS

For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid ’90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat‘s 2021 album, Servant of the Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for “Ungodly Hour”), is a tribute to Poulsen’s favorite old-school groups.

Impii Hora will be released September 29 via Metal Blade. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared “Island of Dead Men” – Watch + listen here.

‘Desert of Doom’ was inspired by Bolt Thrower, Death, Entombed, and Motörhead. Bang your head ’til it doesn’t bang no more!,” says Poulsen.

Poulsen has rekindled the death metal fire that fueled his first band Dominus. He began jamming on riffs with longtime friend and neighbor, drummer Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy). The two started playing in Morten’s tiny garage: no mics, no P.A. – just a drum kit and a combo amp turned all the way up like they used when they were teenagers. Soon, the pair were completing a new song every time they got together. When it came time to add vocals, Poulsen turned to his good friend, who also happened to be one of his all-time favorite death metal growlers: Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth).

I had known Michael quite a long time and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project one day, but I never took him too seriously because he was so busy with Volbeat,” Grewe says. “Then he called for real and said, ‘Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?’ Immediately, I was like, ‘Yes, of course!’

With Asinhell fully formed, the three convened with Volbeat producer Jacob Hansen to produce, mix, and play bass on their debut album. When it was time to add lead guitar to the album, Michael looked no further than friend and The Arcane Order axeman Flemming C. Lund.

Harm’s Way Release New Single And Video “Undertow” Featuring King Woman

From Forthcoming Album Common Suffering Out September 29 via Metal Blade Records

Touring North America This Fall

Despite Harm’s Way‘s reputation for unrelenting ferocity, Common Suffering surprises at several turns with quieter moments of intricate songwriting that emphasizes light and shade. It’s their understanding of how to effectively orchestrate these dynamics that makes their latest feel infinitely more merciless. This is Harm’s Way at their best – the ambitious sound of a band traversing new ideas and succeeding with their strongest and most fully-realized effort to date. For their improbable new single “Undertow,” the band united with Kristina Esfandiari (King Woman) whose haunting vocals add a whole new dimension. It comes with an arresting video directed by Finn O’Connell and features both Harm’s Way and Esfandiari.

Of the single, the band reveals, “‘Undertow’ looks at the cycle of life and death, and one’s process of coming to a space of acceptance with the latter. While we can argue that self-preservation is inherently human, finding peace in death and dying brings us that much closer to humility and our shared humanity.” Watch the video below.

For nearly two decades, Harm’s Way has evolved from whispered underground favorites to favorite sons with an arsenal of songs that helped shape heavy music’s trajectory – creating a roadmap for legions interested in “reinventing” themselves. Harm’s Way has never stayed complacent and constantly morphed shape- absorbing and reapplying influences in new and creative ways to create some of the most well-executed songs in hardcore punk and metal.

And yet, considering the changeling that they and their previous efforts are, Common Suffering is easily the most musically diverse undertaking in their catalog. The album beams with incredibly memorable riffs, breakdowns, and impeccable songwriting. The title is a clear nod to the collective experiences of the past three years of chaos, misanthropy, paranoia, disorder, confusion and anxiety, with the band exploring themes ranging from personal struggles with mental health, relationships, political upheaval, corruption, and political power.

This time around, Harm’s Way shifted to recording at Studio 4 in Pennsylvania with producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Code Orange). Going into the recording, the goal was to improve some of the band’s processes, examine vocal cadences and experiment during production to gain the best idea from each track. The first change dealt with refocusing members on their specific wheelhouses. While vocalist James Pligge had previously assisted with riffs, on this effort, his main objective was to ensure the perfect vocal attack- leaning into Yip for advice and letting the remainder of the band take the wheel with their respective parts. The result is each player pushing to the far reaches and creating material that has previously never been colonized by any band, or hardcore writ large, before.

As masterful and impressive as Common Suffering is, the precision-guided cluster bombs that make up the album are just ten more reasons for Harm’s Way fans to queue up to see one of the best and most vicious live shows on the planet. There, amongst the wide smiles, flailing arms and bodies pinballing off of the edges of the pit, is where the world will see just how singular and uncommon the new effort is. This Fall the band hit the road for a month-long North American tour which routes them through the Midwest, Texas, both coasts and more. Fleshwater, Ingrown and Jivebomb are set as support. See below for a full list of dates. Purchase tickets here.

Primordial Unveils “Pilgrimage to the World’s End” Lyric Video

How It Ends Full-Length Nears Release Via Metal Blade Records

Watch/stream PRIMORDIAL’s “Pilgrimage To The World’s End” HERE.

Dublin, Ireland-based Pagan metal icons PRIMORDIAL today unveil their new single, “Pilgrimage To The World’s End,” and its accompanying lyric video. The track comes by way of the band’s tenth studio album, How It Ends, set for release on September 29th via Metal Blade Records.

Having lasted thirty-two years and now returning with their devastating new studio offering, the Irish band has made it clear they are a primal force who consistently lay it all on the line. The follow-up to 2018’s critically lauded Exile Amongst The Ruins, How It Endsfinds PRIMORDIAL delivering more of their seminal blend of Celtic and black metal, with an extra added urgency, and staring down the apocalypse. in a world cluttered with soundalike bands in just about every metal subgenre, PRIMORDIAL offers something real that cannot be denied. Says vocalist A. A. Nemtheanga. “It sounds stupid to say, but it’s not fantasy, not escapism. It’s not compromised and co-opted, it’s genuine, in a world where that seems to count for less and less.”

The title is a question – ‘is this how it ends?’ How it all goes down: culture, language, history, society – humanity – who knows?,” continues Nemtheanga. “Regardless of who you are or were, you get one chance at all of this, and it’s asking is this the end of your town, state, nation? Myths, traditions, relationships, and I suppose it asks the question, who reacts, who rebels – how does it end now for them?

Working alongside founding members – bassist Pól MacAmlaigh and guitarist Ciáran MacUilliam – and longtime drummer Simon O’Laoghaire, the band started writing in earnest in the Fall of 2022, having lit a fire under themselves to work hastily and productively. PRIMORDIAL never plans out a record beforehand, letting them come together naturally, though Nemtheanga knew he wanted something with a bigger, more open sound, and something more aggressive, which is exactly what they achieved.

Drawing lyrical influence both from modern and historical ideas, Nemtheanga always gives the listener something to think about, and How It Ends is no different. Latest single, the moody, desperate “Pilgrimage To The World’s End,” was inspired partly by the stories of poor Irish convicts, sent to the world’s end; figures like Ned Kelly who refused to accept the laws oppressing them and “who then rebelled and came to embody, through myth, resistance. This is an album of resistance,” notes Nemtheanga, “‘Pilgrimage To The World’s End’ started out being inspired by the travails of Irish people sent as convicts to Australia, but of course I folded that into a post ‘Coffin Ships’ narrative, poor people boarding boats to try and reach a new world to start over anew, how many went down the boats, endured sickness, death, never reached their destination. Then I began to really consider nthe plight of all people within that 19th century period who by famine, war, poverty tried to seek a new life; the oppressed and the downtrodden. So as PRIMORDIAL always has a historical echo that should resonate with the modern day, we see the same thing, poor people clinging to boats trying to seek a new life, always at the behest of a small economic elite who profit from their ruin. This is the song of the war and famine torn refugee from all countries and nations…

About the band:
Midnight released their fifth full-length, Let There Be Witchery, last Spring via Metal Blade Records. Filthy, belligerent, and obnoxious, Midnight makes music to start fights to. Since 2003, one-man-band Athenar has been churning out an ungodly racket, dropping countless demos, splits and EPs – and in 2022 he returns, delivering a catchy mixture of black metal, speed metal, and dirty punk rock. “I always want it to be loud and nasty,” he asserts. “That kinda thing never gets old with me. How funny will that look to see me at age 77 – if I reach that point – sitting on the porch blasting Hellhammer?” Preview and purchase Let There Be Witchery at THIS LOCATION.

Part of the reason why Midnight’s output is so fantastic is that it is supremely digestible. You know exactly what it is you’re going to be subjected to across the next 40-or-so minutes and that is always the audible equivalent of being repeatedly punched in the face by a large man with an anchor tattoo on his hairy forearm.” – Distorted Sound

…the most purely Midnight release yet. It’s sleazy and at times a little icky, but it is also incredibly catchy.” – Blabbermouth

With Motörhead-inspired riffs underneath debaucherous lyrics that would make Sarah Silverman blush, Midnight and its twisted mastermind Athenar have risen from the underground on leathery black wings.” – Metal Injection

JOB FOR A COWBOY Returns With “The Agony Seeping Storm” Video/Single; Band Prepares To Release First New Full-Length In A Decade Via Metal Blade Records In 2024!

JOB FOR A COWBOY:
Jonny Davy – vocals
Al Glassman – guitar
Nick Schendzielos – bass
Tony Sannicandro – guitar

Band Prepares To Release First New Full-Length In A Decade Via Metal Blade Records In 2024!

Listen/watch JOB FOR A COWBOY’s “The Agony Seeping Storm” HERE.

Arizona death metallers JOB FOR A COWBOY return after a near decade long hiatus with their brand new single and accompanying video for “The Agony Seeping Storm.” The track comes by way of the band’s first new full-length in a decade, set for release in 2024 via Metal Blade Records!

JOB FOR A COWBOY released their Sun Eater full-length in 2014. The record received an overwhelmingly positive response, with Decibel Magazine confessing, “Fuck it, I can admit when I’m wrong… while I was busy pointedly not paying attention to them, these deathcore progenitors actually became a pretty damn good band.” In a 4.5/5 review, Alternative Press championed, “a full-on progressive death metal band… the songs have progressive sweep and epic power, at times recalling Opeth’s heavier work,” adding, “Sun Eater is one of 2014′s best metal albums, period,” while Metal Injection hailed an album, “that will be a solid brick in the foundation of the death metal genre with no gimmicks or trends to back it up.”

Ten years later, the band returns with their most volatile work to date. The as-yet-untitled full-length is at once musically multifaceted, unabashedly brutal, and compellingly conceptual. First single, “The Agony Seeping Storm,” is a mathematically mind-blowing hybrid of bludgeoning death metal specializing in unconventional riffing that echoes the resemblance of legendary experimentalists like Cynic, Atheist, and Gorguts. A newly refreshed and reinspired lineup — vocalist Jonny Davy, guitarists Tony Sannicandro and Al Glassman, bassist Nick Schendzielos, and drummer (since 2020) Navene Koperweis — seamlessly pick up the mantle where Sun Eater left off.

Issues Davy, “‘The Agony Seeping Storm’ gives a slice of our upcoming concept record. Regarding the video, the band collaborated extensively with director K. Hunter Lumar (Digital Mile), while our bassist, Nick Schendzielos, co-directed. The concept was inspired by a close friend who embarked on a relentless quest for profound enlightenment through the incessant abuse of hallucinogenic drugs. However, as they delved deeper into their religious-like experimentation they began exhibiting symptoms of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. They came to believe that they could access an alternate, esoteric reality through hallucinogenic intoxication, where they encountered gnostic and biblical figures and imagery. These songs reflect their thoughts, ideas, and experiences.”

Watch JOB FOR A COWBOY’s “The Agony Seeping Storm” video HERE.

Further info on JOB FOR A COWBOY’s new full-length will be revealed in the coming weeks. Stay alert!

JOB FOR A COWBOY’s official comeback show will take place at this year’s edition of Blue Ridge Rock Fest with additional live dates to be announced soon.

JOB FOR A COWBOY Live:

9/08/2023 Blue Ridge Rock Fest – Alton, VA

JOB FOR A COWBOY hails from Glendale, Arizona. Formed in 2003, the band’s debut album, Genesis, was released in 2007, peaking at #54 on the US Billboard 200 and selling 13,000 copies in its first week of release. The second album, 2009’s Ruination, sold 10,600 copies in the United States in its first week to debut at position #42 on the Billboard 200 chart! The band has been described by The New York Times as “an Arizona band with a guttural, brute-force sound descended (indirectly) from hardcore punk,” and a, “straightforwardly brutal act,” by Rolling Stone Magazine. The band has appeared on numerous music festivals both stateside and abroad, including Sounds Of The Underground, Download Festival, Mayhem Festival, Summer Slaughter, Graspop Metal Meeting, and Wacken Open Air, among others.

Metal Blade Releases Dååth’s Classic Album “The Hinderers” on Vinyl for First Time Ever – Out Now!!

Image concept by Alex Morgan Imaging

The Hinderers lineup:
Sean Farber – vocals
Eyal Levi – guitar
Mike Kameron – synth/keyboards/vocals
Emil Werstler – lead guitar
Jeremy Creamer – bass
Kevin Talley – drums

Band exits the studio and enters the mixing stage of their new full-length album!

The Hinderers is Dååth‘s second studio album and Roadrunner Records debut that was produced by the band and James Murphy, and originally released in March 2007. The now classic album that fused elements of death, thrash, and black metal with technical virtuosity is now available for the first time ever on Vinyl, via Metal Blade Records, in the following colors: Red Smoke, Clear Smoke, and as Gray Black White Marble.

Get your copy HERE

. Current and founding member Eyal had this to say about The Hinderers vinyl release and where things are at with the band’s new full-length album, due out from Metal Blade Records in 2024.

Sometimes it’s good to be wrong.

As I personally celebrate 20 years since writing Ovum, the song that gave me a career, two things I never thought would happen are actually happening:

1. An old Dååth album on vinyl
2. A brand new Dååth album

Every single day, for the past twelve years, fans of the band have been hitting us up, demanding our back catalog on vinyl. While it’s been super flattering that anyone still cares about songs I wrote in my parent’s basement two decades ago, it has felt terrible to tell loyal fans that their desires are pipe dreams.

That’s why it makes me so happy to say that as of today, thanks to Metal Blade, The Hinderers is available in stores and on vinyl.

I don’t know if it’ll get a second pressing.

I don’t know if this will ever happen again.

All I know is that it’s happening now.

So if you’ve ever wanted Dååth on vinyl, get it now because It might not exist in the future.

… and speaking of the future… while writing this, I’m sitting in Orebro, Sweden, at Fascination Street Studios, listening to Jens Bogren mix the upcoming and BRAND NEW DÅÅTH album. It’s sounding tremendous. These songs are epic. Our best.

Stay tuned!

The Hinderers was produced by James Murphy (Disincarnate ex-Death, Testament, Obituary) and co-produced by Dååth and features guest solos by James Murphy of Death and James Malone of Arsis. James and Eyal engineered the record with the help of Andy Sneap, while Colin Richardson mixed the album for them.

02. From the Blind
03. Cosmic Forge

About the band:
Dååth is an American progressive death metal band based in Atlanta, Georgia. The band began their journey in 1999 and stayed busy for just over a decade before taking a hiatus in 2011. In that time, Dååth released 4 studio albums (Futility – self-released 2004, The Hinderers – Roadrunner Records 2007, The Concealers – Century Media 2009, Dååth – Century Media 2010) and toured throughout the world with band’s like Dark Funeral, Naglfar, Zyklon, Dragonforce, Goatwhore, Chimaira, Throwdown, Dying Fetus, and Devildriver making a lasting impression with the metal community and its many subgenres.

The track features guest solos by Rafael Trujillo (Obsidious, ex-Obscura, instagram.com/rafaeltrujillo_official) and Spiro Dussias (instagram.com/spirodussias) and was mixed by Jens Bogren (Sepultura, At The Gates, Kreator, Dimmu Borgir), Mastered by Tony Lindgren (Enslaved, Katatonia, Leprous, Wardruna), with Vocal Production by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Motionless In White, Wage War), and Engineering by John Douglass (Megadeth, Alluvial, The Contortionist).

The band’s latest digital single, a cover of Morbid Angel‘s classic Where the Slime Live featuring a guest guitar solo performance by Dave Davidson of Revocation. The track was mixed and mastered by Dave Otero with artwork by Ryan Wolanski.
