NUCLEAR BLAST – Announces ‘The Aggression Sessions’!

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the release of The Aggression Sessions featuring THY ART IS MURDER, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY,and MALEVOLENCE which will be available digitally on April 7th and on CD + Vinyl on July 21st, 2023 via Nuclear Blast.

Today, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY releases the first single from the EP entitled, “Hellions”. Check out the visualizer here: https://youtu.be/m02W2kYSwYE

FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY states, “‘Hellions’ was a fun look back at some of our more brutal and fast-paced roots more akin to our earlier material. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Hellbound, the record which we all collectively feel really started things in motion for the band. It was a blast to channel the energy and excitement we had at that time back into our music in 2023. It’s only natural for bands to evolve and expand their sound over time, but we never forgot where we came from, so this one is for those who were here from day one!”

The Aggression Sessions is the follow-up to 2016’s The Depression Sessions and follows the same 6-song mini album where each band offers an original single and a cover song. For this session, THY ART IS MURDER is covering Cannibal Corpse and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY is covering At The Gateswhereas MALEVOLENCE is handling a song by American singer Anastacia.

THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY make the following joint statement:
“Before we had even completed work on ‘The Depressions Sessions’ we knew a lifelong friendship had been forged between THY ART IS MURDER and FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY, and that we would have to do another variation of the project. ‘The Aggression Sessions’ concept was born almost immediately following the completion of the first iteration but has taken many years to finally find the time to record and release it amidst the chaotic touring and music release schedules of both bands. We wanted to take things back to some of our favorite inspirations for writing and performing heavy and aggressive music this time, encapsulating the tone of the EP title. We hope everyone enjoys!
Joining us for round 2, please welcome MALEVOLENCE into the series. Much love to The Acacia Strain, and thank you to them for being a part of this lineage. Check out their new forthcoming record as well!
Working with friends and peers and avoiding the pitfalls of competitiveness has always been the most rewarding part of being in a band, so as always thank you for the support and opportunity to have this platform. See you all on the road soon!”

MALEVOLENCE’s ilkie Robinson adds, “New Jersey to Australia to Sheffield! it was an absolute pleasure to be involved in this big international metal link-up and a great opportunity for us to have fun creatively outside of the usual expectations. Shout out to Eliran Kantor for killing the artwork and Nuclear Blast for making it all happen.”

Chris McMahon’s Abrupt Exit from Thy Art Is Murder: A Social Media Saga”

Australian extreme metal titans “Thy Art is Murder” officially announced McMahon’s departure from the Band and revealed that they had replaced his contributions on the new album with those of a new vocalist. Godlike was released today (Friday, September 22) via Human Warfare, with CJ‘s replacement having “finished re-recording vocals on the new album earlier this week”.In their statement, Thy Art Is Murder stated that this decision had been brewing for a while, alleging that McMahon had threatened to harm the band if they didn’t endorse his extreme views.

McMahon has commented on his dismissal from the group, adding that he only found out about it through their statement.

“I just woke up and saw the news. Yes this is how I found out. And yes it’s not the whole story. I’ll be going live tomorrow at 5PM Sydney, Australia time,” McMahon wrote, ending the post with, “Burn everyone to death.”

The latter part of McMahon’s post is in reference to the initial anti-trans comments he made in the first place. He’d reportedly reposted a video that was originally shared by political commentator Matt Walsh where a mother asked her child if they were a boy or a girl, and the child answered “both.” McMahon proceeded to comment that the mother “should be burned to death” for accepting the response [via MetalSucks].

This ongoing saga promises to continue, with McMahon planning an Instagram live session at approximately 3 a.m. EST. It’s bound to be an event worth keeping an eye on.

Australia’s Extreme Metal Titans ‘Thy Art Is Murder’ Released Their New Single, “Keres”, off New Album Godlike

THY ART IS MURDER REVEAL THUNDEROUS NEW ANTHEM “KERES” — WATCH

NEW ALBUM GODLIKE — OUT SEPTEMBER 15 VIA HUMAN WARFARE

Australia’s extreme metal titans Thy Art Is Murder have released their storming new single, “Keres,” the second taste of new music lifted from the band’s forthcoming album, Godlike, out September 15 via Human Warfare. Pre-order Godlikehere.

Watch the video here.

A stadium-sized death metal anthem, “Keres” has it all: bone crushing verses, colossal stomping choruses, an urgent guitar solo, and frontman CJ McMahon‘s vocals demolishing all in his wake as he rams that hook straight into your brain.

“Keres” is an absolute standout in the Thy Art Is Murder collection and guitarist Andy Marsh explains why the band can’t wait to get it out there.

“It’s not often we have this level of excitement to present a new single to the world,” Marsh states. “‘Keres’ is a metal anthem filled with grinding verses and stomping choruses, stripping down some of the complexity that may have gotten in the way of previous attempts to deliver a song of this magnitude. The Keres was an evil sprite in ancient Greek mythology that would feed on the dead, but could not participate in acts of violence. We think this behavior is as relevant in the arena of news and politics as it was on those ancient battlefields.”

Thy Art Is Murder ascended the ranks of extreme metal’s top-tier bands with a meteoric underground rise as explosive as humankind’s seemingly inevitable descent into doom and death. With their new album, Godlike, Australia’s most harrowingly brutal export since George Miller’s Mad Max franchise invites audiences worldwide to join them in a fresh Armageddon.

The sixth explosive album in the band’s arsenal, Godlike cements Thy Art Is Murder as death metal’s modern torchbearers. A soundtrack to a divisive post-modern dystopia, Godlike sees Thy Art Is Murder explore new depths and dynamics without sacrificing an ounce of intensity or urgency the band have staked their career on.

Recorded with their longtime producer and mixer, Will Putney, across the album’s 10 nihilistic tracks Thy Art are masters of their craft as they deliver sharp stabs, guttural descents and groove with muscular athleticism and confidence. Frontman CJ McMahon gives his strongest performance ever as he belts through lyrics that thematically confront how cycles of violence continue over time and feelings of separation in a hyper-polarized world.

Thy Art Is Murder’s thinking-person’s blackened death metal has challenged, provoked and inspired audiences around the world. Through relentless hard work, Thy Art have become one of the most successful extreme metal bands Australia has ever produced, making history on their own terms. Backed by an uncompromising discography, the two-time ARIA-Award nominees have smashed chart records in their native country, becoming the first homegrown extreme metal act to debut in the Top 5 with 2017’s Dear Desolation.

Their electrifying and incendiary performances have seen the band do countless laps of the globe, becoming tourmates with genre-titans like Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Kreator, Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, and Parkway Drive, alongside playing crucial festivals like Summer Breeze, Download, Graspop, and Wacken.

Thy Art Is Murder Share “Decade Of Hate (Live In Melbourne 2023)” Concert Video

THY ART IS MURDER SHARE “DECADE OF HATE (LIVE IN MELBOURNE 2023)” CONCERT STREAM — WATCH

The final strains of HATE have been played, closing the chapter on the monumental 10-year anniversary tour.

The Decade of Hate tour saw Thy Art Is Murder play 43 shows across three continents and delivered the biggest Australian shows of their career. The band captured their triumphant set at The Forum in Melbourne and you can stream it now in all its inferno glory on YouTube for free. Watch it here.

The full multi-cam experience, with live audio mixed by Will Putney, is a colossal assault on the senses backed by some of the most explosive pyro the venue has ever seen. Thy Art have gifted fans the stream as a “thank you” for all the support over the last decade.

Released in 2012, Hate is widely considered to be one of the best extreme metal albums of the modern era. A landmark record in Australia, Hate saw Thy Art make history as first extreme metal band to crack the ARIA Top 40 and it catapulted them onto the world stage, playing a mammoth 342 shows around the globe. To date, the album has been streamed over 66 million times.

“When we set out to record our record Hate all those years ago, none of us could anticipate the ride of a lifetime we were about to embark upon,” says guitarist Andrew Marsh. “So it seemed fitting that when we announced this recent Decade Of Hate tour, we were again uncertain about what the shows would hold in store. They turned out to be the biggest of our career.”

He continues, “Throughout this wild journey, it was only through the undying support of our friends and fans across the world that we were able to traverse these monolithic milestones and for that we are forever grateful. To have a dream is one thing, but to live it is something truly special and you have given that privilege to us.”

Marsh finishes “In the last 10 years, we attempted to cover as much ground on tour as possible, but this last anniversary tour was rather brief as we prepare for our new record. With the help of our incredible crew we are proud to give you HATE in full, the way we imagined we might one day be able to one day present the songs. For all those we couldn’t make it to, and for anyone who just wants to relive the experience, this video is free forever. Flip the lights out, stick it on the biggest screen in your house, and turn it up.”
